In science, students discover the wonders of the world around them. Through inquiry, experimentation, and observation, students develop knowledge of the physical, earth, and life sciences. Students apply knowledge of scientific concepts as they design and create experiments and test their hypotheses. As students are introduced to scientific reasoning and reporting, they apply critical thinking and communication skills.
Each grade level curriculum is designed to engage children in developmentally appropriate content and exciting investigations of scientific thought. In the early grades, students study states of matter, sound, and the study of animals, including habitats, adaptations, classification, and food chains. In the upper grades students learn about inventions and scientific innovations, chemistry, anatomy and physiology. Our science curriculum culminates in Grade 6 with an innovative, science-focused design-based learning program, in which students understand the catalysts that propel civilizations.
