Go Wildcats! As our own sports teams are preparing for the start of their seasons, tonight we are on our way to cheer the tackle football team from Milken High School for their Homecoming game. This afternoon the varsity players and cheerleaders came to campus to get our school spirit going, and it was a wonderful pep rally to prepare for the fun tonight. I hope you will join me at Birmingham High School at 6:00 p.m. for all of the festivities. As we celebrated our athletic gifts we also took time today to acknowledge our students’ gifts of creativity. The projects that came in for Caine’s Arcade were really magnificent – it is amazing what our kids can do with some cardboard boxes and duct tape! We will judge the final results tomorrow, and all of our Tzedakah from this week will go to support this important project. We also took time to recognize our performing gifts with our orchestra and jazz band concert this afternoon. The students displayed great talents with their instruments, and all parents are invited next Monday night at 6:00 p.m. for an informational orchestra/band assembly. At this time of year we take stock of our many blessings, and today reminded me of why I love being principal of this Elementary School – all of the gifts and talents our students possess are a blessing to our community!Tami Weiser

IMPORTANT INFO RE: CAINE'S ARCADE/GLOBAL DAY OF PLAY COMPETITION: Our much anticipated "Global Day of Play" has almost arrived. TODAY, Thursday Sept. 20th, is the only day the Caine's Arcade projects will be accepted to be considered for the competition. Projects should be brought to Hershenson Hall anytime on this day -- names and room numbers of all students who made the projects must be clearly marked in order to be considered for judging. Projects can be set up anywhere in the room, where the chairs have been cleared away. On Friday, Sept. 21st, classes will come through for viewing, and by 3 p.m. winners will be notified. Winning projects will be held at school for a few weeks, during which time, a video will be made featuring students and their creations. ALL OTHER PROJECTS MUST GO HOME BY THE END OF THE DAY (FRI, SEPT. 21ST) OR THEY WILL BE RECYCLED!
Also, this Friday's Tzedakah $$ will be donated to Caine's Arcade Fund, which will provide college scholarships to help kids like Caine. THANK YOU -- Jan Navah, art specialist
