The Hebrew curriculum, unique to Wise, emphasizes Hebrew as a modern language. At any grade level, Hebrew is the sole medium of instruction and communication in the classroom. This allows students to become immersed in the language, while learning to speak, read, and write with natural fluency. In addition to the academic skills gained, studies show that becoming bilingual has a positive effect on students’ intellectual growth in all subject areas.
In the younger grades, Hebrew is introduced in a nurturing, friendly environment. Children acquire basic listening and speaking skills through fun and engaging activities and use hands-on projects to gain a foundation of Hebrew vocabulary. In the upper grades, the Hebrew program aims to expand students' communication skills in various contexts and settings and build on their listening and speaking skills by developing reading and writing proficiency. Specifically designed for Jewish elementary school students in the Diaspora, the Hebrew program is relevant to children's lives and cultural backgrounds.
