This week we are focusing in all grade levels on the Thanksgiving holiday. Students are writing poetry and essays about thanks, solving math problems and Venn Diagrams comparing and contrasting holiday information, discussing the explorers and geography of the first settlers, singing special tunes, and of course, eating! With all of the learning about the holiday, the true highlight was today at our M’dor L’dor event. It was really amazing welcoming grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and special friends to our campus to enjoy a day of talking about generations. Our choirs and orchestra performed magnificently, the classrooms were full of families conducting interviews and doing art projects, and the day culminated with a gorgeous luncheon outside. I want to thank the WPA and parent committees for all of their work and dedication to making this day a great success. Thanks also to the teachers, office staff and maintenance team that once again pulled off such a spectacular event. A special moment for me was sitting in a classroom with three generations in a family, each sharing their story, and letting the student know where they came from. As I visited classrooms I was still hearing the song from our cantors of “Ldor V’dor” and I truly understood the importance of passing down our heritage from generation to generation.
I want to wish all of you the blessings of a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I hope you have a magical weekend!
