This month at Stephen S. Wise Elementary we are learning about the importance of peace. Our students have discussed the implications of the 10th anniversary of September 11, we have prayed for peace in Israel (particularly with the significance of the U.N. vote this Friday), and we have had lessons on peace throughout the world. These lessons culminated on Wednesday with the celebration of International Peace Day and our Pinwheels for Peace project. Each student made a pinwheel with their individual message for peace and the classes placed their pinwheels throughout the campus. I invite you to look for them this week as you drive up the driveway.
Speaking of the driving up the driveway, I want to share with you a couple of changes we are making with our carpool procedures. It is very important that our afternoon carpool runs smoothly, safely and quickly. We have started to bring up cars at 3:20 to clear Casiano Drive, and once you come up to the plaza we need you to remain in your car. When your child arrives, please do not let them leave your car for any reason (e.g. run to class for something they forgot, go to the gift shop for a snack). If they want to get out of the car we need you to park in the lot and then have them leave. Thank you for your cooperation and support with these new processes.
