The lights of Hanukkah are shining brightly throughout our school this week. In each class the students are learning the story of the holiday, and there have been great discussions around bravery, miracles, and giving. On a higher level, we are connecting Hanukkah messages to our work with USC on relationships, power, adaptation, change and conflict. These lessons have added a new layer to our understanding of the holiday and it is exciting to witness this learning every day. I have truly enjoyed being in the classrooms with the kids, and at this point I can’t eat another latke or donut ever again (until next year)! Another highlight of the week has been our donations to Light Up Literacy, where we have linked Hanukkah with the importance of Tzedakah, and today we are presenting the organization with a check for $2,500! Our students created a wonderful video that I hope you will watch at by clicking here.
On another note, I am truly excited that our Annual Giving Campaign is kicking off with great energy. We have had some very generous early donations and are on our way to reaching our overall goal of $300,000. It is extremely important this year that we have 100% participation from every family and staff member, and I am personally asking all of you to make a gift that is meaningful to you. You can access information about annual giving by clicking here – make sure to watch the great video by Rabbi Yoshi. I want to thank you for your support of this important program.
