The campus is buzzing today with parent-teacher conferences, and I have truly enjoyed listening to the conversations on student learning and academic achievement. Each one of our students is demonstrating growth in so many areas, and the conferences really provided us with an opportunity to reflect on that development. Beyond the academic and social parts of our school life, we are also deeply engaged in social action and Tikkun Olam. This Tuesday we wore denim jeans and pink shirts, and every class collected money for breast cancer awareness. Our sixth grade recently went to Guide Dogs of America, where they adopted a puppy that they will financially support and look forward to seeing him as a full grown dog at their graduation. Each grade level has their own Chesed project, and the official kick-off of all of our work is this Sunday at our Mitzvah Day. Please join all of the classroom teachers on campus for a wonderful day of projects and community building. We start in the morning at 9:00 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, then you will go to Baron Field or Hershenson Hall for your grade level project, and we wrap up the day at 12:00 with the wonderful Fashion for Compassion show from Milken. I promise you will leave here on Tuesday feeling better about yourself and our world, and I can’t wait to share this experience with all of you!
