The democratic process was in full swing throughout the United States on Tuesday, and Stephen S. Wise Elementary School was no exception. We had our student council elections, and sixth grade students responded to the call to action with a resounding “Hineini” as they created posters, planned their strategies and met their constituents. The candidates prepared a short speech about their visions for our school and what they would do as an elected officers. The speeches were passionate, humorous and inspiring, and left us with a very difficult decision to make. The 2nd – 6th grade students then returned to their classrooms to fill out their ballots and suggest ideas for future spirit days. Our students made us proud with the work they did, and reminded us that they are all winners for caring deeply about our school.
