One of the pleasures of my office is the large windows I have that overlook our entire campus. I keep the window open and throughout the day I can hear kids playing on the yard, PE instruction, classes moving, and the sounds of an elementary school in full action. Today I had an additional sound that really brought a smile to my face. Each hour I heard children's voices in song as they celebrated the joy of being in our Sukkah. Every grade level went to the sukkah to sing, dance and chant blessings. When I heard their singing I often ran over to join them, and a particular highlight was seeing the kindergarten students with their sixth grade buddies. The older kids taught their younger partners how to sing the songs, and it was magical to see the little guys looking up with such awe at their buddies. In addition to the kids enjoying our sukkah, today we had moms in the fourth grade sitting out there for breakfast, talking and blessings. We had some WPA leaders meet for a blessing and lunch together. A dad came by to say his own blessings. I invite any of you who haven't had a chance to enjoy the mitzvah of dwelling in a sukkah to stop by and shake the lulav with us – it is a great feeling!
