Mrs. Appel-Oudenaar was born and raised in Los Angeles. She attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and received her B.S. in Physical Education. She also attended Casa Loma college and earned an L.V.N. certificate in Nursing. She worked at Tarzana Regional Medical Center and at Cedars Sinai Medical Center for two and a half years.
While a member of the faculty for two years at Meadow Oaks School in Calabasas, she was the Athletic Direction, taught physical education to grades K-6, and coached all sports. In addition to her year-round work as a teacher and nurse, she works during the summers as a camp director, advisor, and counselor.
