This year, the goal for Annual Giving is $325,000, which represents 5.7% of the School budget. We ask each Elementary School family to make a meaningful gift. In addition, grandparents, friends, Elementary School faculty and staff, and non-School members of Stephen Wise Temple contribute generously as well.

The Annual Giving Campaign is the primary school-wide voluntary fundraising appeal of the year. Dollars raised by the campaign are a necessary, integral part of the school's operating budget. This year, the goal for Annual Giving is $300,000, which represents 5.5%of Stephen S. Wise Elementary School's budget. Another important goal of Annual Giving is 100% participation from our current families. Tuition alone does NOT cover all of our operating expenses.
Annual Giving is important because it demonstrates the support of our community. Broad based support of the School through Annual Giving conveys a powerful statement reflecting the community's commitment to our School's programs and goals. Every gift is a vote of confidence in the School and how we deliver a high quality Jewish education to our students. Every gift – large or small – truly makes a difference.
We encourage parents to make Stephen S. Wise Elementary School one of your highest philanthropic priorities. Annual Giving is the one activity in the year in which each family is strongly encouraged to participate at a meaningful giving level. The gap between tuition per child and the actual cost of educating a student
is $2,000, and we ask parents to cover that gap if possible. Many parents contribute that amount or more. However, contributions range from $18 to $25,000. Every gift – regardless of amount – is a vote of confidence in the way we deliver a quality education to each child. And, Annual Giving donations are tax-deductible. We encourage families to make or commit their gift by December 31, 2013. Pledges must be paid in full by June 30, 2014, the end of our School's fiscal year.
Families are asked to support Annual Giving to the best of their ability. Gifts range from $18 to $25,000. The gap between tuition per child and the actual cost of educating a student is $2,000, and we ask parents to cover that gap if possible. Many parents contribute that amount or more. While large leadership gifts are crucial to our School's financial stability, all gifts make a difference and are deeply appreciated.
There are three primary reasons …
- Raising tuition to cover the true cost of educating each student would preclude many families from joining the Stephen S. Wise Elementary School community.
- Our School is a non-profit organization and therefore contributions to Annual Giving are fully tax-deductible, thereby providing a benefit to all donors.
- The Annual Giving campaign allows members of the broader Jewish community who believe in day school education to support the School.
