Mrs. Himmel, attended Plattsburgh State University of New York where she received her B.S. in Elementary Education and M.S. as a Reading Specialist. Mrs. Himmel also holds two lifelong teaching credentials.
Mrs. Himmel was a Kindergarten Reading Teacher for one year and a Kindergarten Teacher for 3 years at Peru Primary School. During that time, Mrs. Himmel was the Chairperson for the Reading Incentive Committee, and the Spirit Chairperson for Grades K-2. She organized activities and projects for parents, teachers and the community to encourage students to read outside of school. Several children’s book authors visited the school to recognize student achievements. Mrs. Himmel was also a Math cooordinator for her school and worked on aligning the curriculum with the math standards.
Mrs. Himmel and her husband understand the importance of nurturing children. She strives to make school exciting and to create a positive experience for each student. Her philosophy is “If you want it, teach it!”
